An exciting range of Mandarin Chinese courses are offered in Shanghai at MandarinRocks Chinese Language School, at all levels from absolute beginners to advanced all year round. 16 start dates throughout the year for total beginners while non beginners and individual courses start every Monday ! Book 4 weeks in advance (6 weeks in advance with accommodation arrangement).

Intensive courses are provided on fixed schedule and daily basis (Monday to Friday). If you cannot commit to regular course and prefer more flexibility in schedule, check out Private Tutoring option, which can be offered in evenings and weekends.

Small Class, Fast Progress, Practical Use. MandarinRocks Chinese courses in Shanghai fall into three main categories: General Chinese, Business Chinese, HSK Preparation. Placement test will be given before or on your arrival to place you into the appropriate class. The courses are taught by highly qualified teachers in small groups (max 8 per class, average 3~5) to ensure every student gets full attention from teacher and has ample time for practice. Students can enrich learning experience in a culturally diverse environment since our small class is often joined by students of a mix of nationalities. Various cultural activities, excursions and site visits (arranged for student group of 5+) are offered to introduce students to multiple aspects of Chinese society.

Category 1. General Chinese
General Chinese 20 (20 group lessons per week)
This popular course includes four group lessons a day. Based on their level, participants can acquire a basic knowledge of the Chinese language or improve and perfect the knowledge they already have. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are all integrated in the class to develop and improve students overall language skills. It is designed for students who wish to learn Chinese whilst experiencing the vibrancy and excitement of Shanghai. More details.
General Chinese 30 (30 group lessons per week)
The intensive course includes six group lessons a day. In addition to regular group classes in the morning which give students the opportunity to learn the grammar and practice the four key language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) while interacting in a small group environment, this course offers an additional two group classes in the afternoon that focus on providing students with practical experience and a focus on writing and speaking in everyday situations. Combined General Chinese 20+5 (20 group & 5 individual lessons per week)
This course is ideal for combining the experience of learning the language in a group whilst at the same time receiving individual classes. The group classes in the morning encourage student interaction and help you improve your practical communication skills. The individual classes in the afternoon allow you to work on areas you may feel need extra practice or which are of particular interest to you. Category 3. HSK Preparation
Individual HSK Preparation 20 (20 individual lessons per week)
HSK (new) was created for students seeking admission to colleges and universities in China. It is designed to demonstrate Chinese proficiency for academic purposes. It is the only mandarin proficiency test recognized by Chinese government. HSK Preparation Course enables basic to advanced students to improve their test performance. Students take four lessons every day to study the grammar, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and reading skills necessary to score well on the test.
