Accommodation for International Students in Shanghai

MandarinRocks Shanghai School is conveniently located in central Shanghai and there are lots of housing options available. We attach much importance to the quality of our accommodation to make sure students feel comfortable and secure when away from home since we recognize accommodation is an integral part of the study experience.

You can get Shanghai housing right in vibrant city centers. Our housing facilities in Shanghai offer the convenience and comfort necessary for an easy transition into living in the big city. The most common arrangement for students is apartments. They include three options: Private Studio Apartment (premium), Private Studio Apartment (standard) and Single Room in Shared Apartment.

Location & Environment
There are multiple locations of our apartments; all of them are located in metropolitan Shanghai in elegant and tranquil neighborhood with easy access to public transportation (within 30 minutes walk or public transportation to school) and restaurants, supermarket, shops, banks and other living facilities nearby.

- Closer to school: average 10 minutes on foot
- Increased space: average 50sqm (538sq.ft) in size
- Fully furnished
- Bedroom: air-conditioner, TV, bed, desk, chair, wardrobe, bed linen, blanket
- Kitchenette: fridge, microwave, stove, pans and cutlery
- Bathroom: shower, toilet

Shared Apartment Sample

- Average 25-30 minutes by public transportation
- Fully furnished
- 2 to 5 people share one apartment
- Shared living room: air-conditioner, TV, dining table, chairs
- Single Bedroom: air-conditioner, bed, wardrobe, bed linen, blanket
- Shared Kitchen: fridge, microwave, stove, pans and cutlery
- Shared bathroom: shower/bathtub, toilet
- Washing machine or access to laundry service nearby
- Free Broadband Internet access
- Water, gas, electricity are provided
- No meals

Note:
1 Bookings of apartments start from two week blocks, specifically from Sunday before the course begins to the Saturday immediately following the end of the course.
2 Accommodation in apartments cannot be guaranteed for students beyond the dates of their course, early arrival and extension are subject to availability.
3 All accommodation requires a security deposit due upon arrival (3000RMB or equivalent in USD/EUR for private studio apartment; 2000RMB or equivalent in USD/EUR for single room, in cash only).The security deposit is returned at the end of the stay, provided that there are no damages and the apartment/room is left in good condition.
4 Utilities are included on normal use basis; excessive use and waste is subject to surcharge and it will be deducted from security deposit.
5 10% summer surcharge on regular housing price from May 16 to September 15
6 Accommodation can also be reserved for students who are not enrolled in our program, if there is availability.

Other Options
Homestay
We have paid special attention to our home stay accommodation, so families and homes that we have inspected and selected share some common important features:
- The home is located in nice neighborhood and have convenient public transportation.
- The home provides a private room fully furnished with a bed, desk, wardrobe and air-conditioning.
-The home has all the convenient living facilities, clean and comfortable and enable the student to study quietly
-The family is able to provide a good breakfast and/or a good evening meal daily.
-The families are friendly and helpful and so give the students plenty of opportunity to practice their Chinese.
-Easily reach the school by public transportation with no more than 30-60 minutes traveling time.
Serviced apartment, Hotel, Hostel
We can help reserve a room upon request including breakfast or half-board, in one of the categories near the school.

Note: Unlike North America or Europe, home stay is relatively a new concept in China. There are only a few host families in Shanghai, not all of them have experience in accommodating international students or have sufficient skills in English.
